Studio shot of studentMary Kotsonis from Eisenhower High School has been chosen to perform as a member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association All-State Honors Choir at the 2020 Michigan Youth Arts Festival. Only one hundred students from around the state were chosen for this honor.

The junior along with her director, Julia Jenkins Holt, and several other students from Eisenhower first started the process in October by auditioning for the Regional Honors Choir. From there, she prepared four songs for the regional day and was tested on them as her audition for both the State and All-State levels. Mary performed in DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids on January 18, 2020 as a member of the MSVMA SATB State Honors Choir.

The Michigan Youth Arts Festival is a comprehensive arts spectacular, culminating a nine-month search for the finest artistic talent in Michigan high schools. More than 250,000 students across the state are involved in the adjudication process that results in nearly 1,000 being invited to participate in the annual three-day event, held in May. It is here that these exceptional students in the arts gather together to explore, celebrate and showcase their talent in multiple disciplines. The festival hopes to foster this lifelong love of the arts through a showcase of individual talent and celebrating the talents of others.

This year's festival will take place May 7-9, at Western Michigan University, in Kalamazoo. The All-State Honors Choir performance is on Saturday, May 9 at 2:30pm in Miller Auditorium.
