From The Principal

Dear Eisenhower Family:

It may seem hard to believe, but the 2017-2018 school year is just around the corner. The districtcalendar for the upcoming school year is posted on our website at

I’d like to send a special welcome to our incoming sophomores, members of the Class of 2020. We will begin our year of transition together. You are officially Eagles! Juniors, this is an important year for you.

As in the past, Juniors will participate in the State of Michigan mandatory MME testing, which includes the SAT. More details about the testing will be provided in the coming future. Seniors, you are now our school leaders. I encourage you to stay focused on your studies as you complete your last year of high school and make preparations for your post-secondary education. Make this school year your best yet!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the Eisenhower community to our new athletic director. Please help me welcome Mr. John Bertich back to the Eisenhower family. Mr. Bertich is joining the Ike staff after most recently teaching
and coaching at Malow Junior High. He will be teaching in the Social Studies department while serving as our Athletic Director.

You may have heard that the high school bell schedule has been slightly modified for the upcoming school year to meet legislative requirement for instructional time. Three (3) minutes have been added to the school day with our new dismissal time scheduled for 2:14 p.m. The new bell schedule for the school day can be found further in the newsletter on page 5.

This year’s Open House is scheduled for Thursday, September 14, 2017.   As in the past, we will begin in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at 6:00 p.m.  Our teachers, counselors and administrators are looking forward to meeting with you. You will have the opportunity to follow your student’s schedule and receive an overview of each course curriculum.

I am excited for school to start. This new year brings the opportunity for me to meet students and families of Eisenhower as well as allowing you to reconnect with those returning. As I stated in my letter of introduction, Eisenhower has a reputation for excellence in all areas academic and extracurricular. I am proud to have the opportunity to work with students who challenge themselves by
taking rigorous classes while taking advantage of the many extra-curricular opportunities available to them here at Eisenhower.

We recognize that students are most successful when there is a strong and positive collaborative relationship between home and school. I have heard about, and appreciate, the fact that Eisenhower parents are active, involved and willing to support their child in all their activities while making academics the
priority. Eisenhower staff members will continue to provide students with challenging courses in every subject area supporting students to achieve at
their personal best.

We ask that parents use the Parent Portal on PowerSchool to help monitor their student’s progress and attendance. PowerSchool information can be found on the Eisenhower website under the Parents and My EHS tabs. It is important that every parent log in and use PowerSchool. If you have difficulty logging in please contact the main office.

Let’s all work together to make 2017-2018 the best school year yet!

Thank you and GO EAGLES!
