For nearly 25 years Philip Crum has been the person behind the health and well-being of Eisenhower High School student athletes.

Crum’s contribution to Eisenhower and the field of athletic training has been honored this year at the Michigan Athletic Trainers Society’s High School Athletic Trainer of the Year award.

“You are a role model in our profession,” said Jeremy Marra, the Committee Chair of the MATS Honors and Award Committee.

Crum was nominated by Kevin Donahue, the athletic director at Eisenhower High School.

“His passion and enthusiasm for kids, their performance and their care is exemplary,” Donahue said.

The nomination is based on the daily benefits Eisenhower athletes receive from Crum.

Donahue note that Crum’s knowledge, experiences and relationships with area physicians are the centerpiece of efforts to reduce risk of injuries and improve performance.

“Phil has great relations with our faculty, coaches, student athletes and their parents,” Donahue said.
