Bye Bye Birdie PosterThe popular musical comedy Bye Bye Birdie will be performed by the Eisenhower High School's Performing Arts Department on March 3-5.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. on March 3 to 5 with a special matinee at 2 p.m. on March 5 at the school, 6500 25 Mile Road in Shelby Township. 

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors and are available at www.showtix4u.com or at the door. 

Originally titled Let's Go Steady, Bye Bye Birdie is set in 1958. The story was inspired by the phenomenon of popular singer Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the Army in 1957.

The book is by Michael Stewart with music by Charles Strouse and Lyrics by Lee Adams.
